O.k., I know this not an Epi forum but inspired by Cussion´s ES330/Casino thread I thought I´d like to try it here. Does anyone have any experience with either the Elitist Casino vs John Lennon and the Gibson ES330 vs. the different Epiphone models?. Unfortunately I couldn´t find anything in the net making a comparision. A 335 is a lot different playing experience than a 330 / Casino is, and they sound different too. You'll probably dislike next week's shootout too - I was thinking Fender Jaguar vs Jazzmaster. The MIJ Casino also has metal P90 covers, whereas the ES 330 has the more traditional black 'plastic' covers. The RI '59 ES 330 has 'underwound' P90s rather than the traditional made in US, Gibson P90s of the Elitist Casino. Epiphone Elitist Casino / other high quality ES 330 style ... I've ABed my '67 ES-330 with an Elitist Casino and a MIK Casino - the Elitist is a good step up over the MIK in build quality and sound. That said, the it also had the tiniest, narrowest neck I've played on any guitar - couldn't get used to it at all. My 330s pretty narrow at the nut but at least its a got a nice rounded back profile.

Cost is a variable question, as the current most affordable Gibson, the M2, goes for $400, and the most expensive Epiphone, the 1965 Elitist Casino, goes for $2,000. Our best bet for getting at some consistent comparison, then, is to aim for the middle of the road and look at comparable models that a potential buyer might consider side-by-side.
